Began in Military Police Escort Guard Company in New Caledonia (11 months)

Guadalcanal MP - the "343rd" July thru October 1944

New Guinea (2 months)

Biak Island

Sansapor - applied for and received transfer to 44th Fighter Squadron; worked as an armoror, servicing, loading, repairing machine guns on fighter planes. Hung bombs, adjusted cameras.

Lingayen Gulf, Luzan Island, Philippines - for invasion

Mindoro, Philippines - reassigned back to MP in Lingayen due to shortage.

Ieshima - joined the 1131st

The war ended while he was in Okinawa, but he came down with jaundice / hepatitis and was sent to the naval hospital in Guam for about 1 month to recover. (He almost died and was sick enough to have viewed death as a mercy!)

He was then sent to Saipan upon recovering to wait for the ship home.
