Wings of Freedom
A Song to Honor Those Who Serve to
Keep America Free
On April 3, 2004, a small group of WWII combat veterans gathered in
Northern California to record a song written by a fellow WWII veteran. The spirit
of the recording was to do honor to the men and women who fought in WWII, and
the men and women who have served and are currently serving to keep America
safe and free. The song is entitled “Wings of Freedom.”
This small group of WWII veterans, representing all branches
of service, include POWs, fighter and bomber pilots, several men who served
with Patton’s 3rd Army, and five men who landed on Okinawa, including
two with the 1st Marine Division.
Many of the men and women who fought in WWII and other wars in America’s
history did not return. Those who returned have continued in their own way to
make America great. Their patriotism to country, loyalty and compassion to their
fellow man, hard work and honesty are the very fibers that have made our country
strong. We, as a nation, will always owe them and their families a great debt
of respect and gratitude.
“Wings of Freedom” is dedicated to all the men and women who have served and
are now serving our country. “Never have so many owed so much to so few.”
And because of you,
“America Soars on the Wings of Freedom.”
