"Wings of Freedom"
is a song I wrote to honor war veterans for what they have done for their
country. Susie Bogenreif wrote the music. I was invited to sing it at
an American Legions convention in Redding, California. From there, Merle
Haggard invited me to sing it at his 2nd annual music fest in Roswell,
New Mexico.
Wings of Freedom was embraced with such enthusiasm and
emotion (and standing ovation) at the 2nd annual music fest in Roswell
that Willie Nelson personally invited me to sing the song July 4, 2005
at his music all-star picnic where attendance is probably about 50,000
people.
Wings of Freedom now has the privilege of having Merle
Haggard joining and singing two verses solo. This new version has been
professionally mixed by Merle Haggard's famous Nashville recording engineer
Lu Bradley. If you have sampled the previous version to see what the song
was about and enjoyed the melodic line and lyrics, you will most certainly
enjoy hearing the professionally recorded version with one of your favorite
